Fiber Optic Components

Fiber optic components are used to form the fiber optic networking system. Since the fiber system is much complicated than former copper wired system, fiber optic components include transmitters, optical fiber, receivers, and probably more.

A number of fiber optic components and devices such as couplers, attenuators, wavelength division multiplexers/de-multiplexers, connectors, filters, switches, fiber-pigtailed semiconductor lasers, and isolators have been developed for use in fiber optic communication systems, sensors and instrumentation.

Fiber optic components are classified based on the passive and active types. It means that passive components work without external power, while active components need external power to work. Actually the fiber optic industry is developing so rapidly that you can find more and more new fiber optic components emerging in the market.

Some parameters of fiber optic components have to be monitored in estimating the influence of other parameters on the performance characteristics of fiber-optic communication lines, such as the transmission capacity, and signal/noise ratio. In investigating fiber optic components, the control, monitoring, and measurements are combined in a microcomputer, so that it is possible to study the characteristics of lasers, fiber waveguides, photo detectors, and coupling elements in various combinations.

There are so many types of fiber optic components available o markets that make you confused. For the safest way, you can consider ones made by reputable factories to get reliable quality. Considering the features is also a good idea to know the quality you will get. You can read this following to get some ideas.

LightLink Lan System Optical Splitter Shelf

Optical Splitter Shelf is one of fiber optic components that provides a convenient in-rack solution to combine/split optical signals in a passive optical network. This equipment is applicable for PON-FTTX Networks, CATV links, DWDM & CWDM systems, wide area networks, and outside plant requirements.

The shelf is comprised of a Planar Lightwave Circuit allowing a signal to be split into 32 channels in a 1U rack-mountable housing. The 2×32 option provides a filter WDM concatenated to a Planar Lightwave Circuit, which allows 1310/1490/1550nm signal management evenly across 32 channels. This is one of fiber optic components which have rugged construction that ensures environmental, mechanical, and optical integrity.

Accu Glass Components

Accu Glass products are one of fiber optic components used in a number of fiber optical applications. Let us take a look to the collimator sleeves which are high precision tubes that align other internal optical components. In some applications the fiber has a ferrule attached to its end and the ferrule is inserted into the collimator sleeve.  Also a very small lens is sometimes inserted into the end of the collimator or the collimator sleeve.

Then, there are numerous applications in fiber optics for precision glass tubing as an alignment device such as a spacer or to hold a number of other fiber optic components. In many of these applications temperatures can cycle and it is important to use materials which expand at roughly the same rate as the fiber or other components. Accu-Glass precision provides the equivalent coefficient of expansion for all the fiber optic components.
